I just spoke with the director of occupational and physical therapy at Big Springs. They think that Mom/Miriam has plateaued in terms of physical and occupational therapy. She is recommending maintenance therapy to be transferred over to nursing. That is not what I wanted to hear. I have asked Physiatrist to evaluate Miriam and get his opinion. Physiatrist will see her Monday next week and I will then discuss this over with him, her therapists and the director of nursing care. I am afraid that maintenance therapy by nursing care will not be adequate for Miriam's needs. We need God's help and intervention.
Please do not give up praying for Mom/Miriam.
In His Time,
My daughter, Sarah Grace, and I enjoyed a wonderful visit with Miriam this past Sunday. Alex - you are such a wonderful, loving husband! I know that Miriam knows you are with her and caring so very deeply for her!
ReplyDeleteI brought a prayer book to help me pray with Miriam for our children. She has two boys and I have two girls - we are the perfect set! I know how much Miriam loves Howie and Warren and that she prayed for them often. I am going to continue to pray with Miriam (and even when not immediately in her presence) for our children - together! :-)
Miriam opened her right eye several times - but seemed to me to be especially responsive when we were reading and praying. I praise God for his timing and plan for Miriam!
Enough on the whole upbeat thing - I miss Miriam! I miss seeing her smile and I miss hearing and knowing how much she loves everyone around her. Miriam - just a warning - the next time I go come see you - you're getting a major pep talk about getting better quickly! Miriam - you'd better watch out - I may have to play my iPod music for you! We will be going from some of my favorite Christian music like: "Our God is an Awesome God" to my favorite walking music, "Honky Tonk, Ba Donka Donk!" (I hope I spelled that right!) Somehow, I wonder if the wonderful musician, award-winning organist, beautiful pianist, super-smart Mariam knows what a ba donka donk is?!
Well.....Miriam....of course you are in my prayers and thoughts - daily. God is blessing those who love you through this whole ordeal. I know you - and I know that YOU would be thinking more of those you love you than you would be thinking of yourself!
Alex - you are a wonderful husband, father, friend, and teacher. Sarah Grace enjoyed talking to you very much! We can see that you never miss a teaching moment! Your care for Miriam and your advice to Sarah Grace about her career and explanation of everything you were doing and Miriam's experience and treatment was the most wonderful mix of love and expression, as well as a great lesson all rolled into one. God has blessed you and your family with great talents, wonderful intelligence, and love. Thanks be to God!
